Sexual Health ALM |

This case based ALM follows three patients through the management of a sexually transmissible infection.
In each of the three case studies: Kiara, Rory and Mitch, there is a focus on a different aspect of managing sexual health, from sexual history taking, pre and post-test discussion, testing for sexually transmissible infections and men who have sex with men.
Objectives:
At the completion of this ALM participants should be able to
- Assess a patient with full history and examination in order to determine their level of risk for a sexually transmissible infection
- Recall the principles of sexual history taking
- Discuss the principles of pre and post-test discussion in relation to testing for STIs
- State the most appropriate tests for STIs based on the different risk level for different populations
- Describe an appropriate system for the follow up of sexual contacts of patients diagnosed with a sexually transmissible infection
