Parkinson's disease - The key features in the initiation of pharmacological management

This one hour online activity will follow the case of Daniel, a 58 year old bricklayer, who has noticed he is more unsteady and his voice is a bit hoarse.

He is concerned about falling and whether this is warning for a stroke.

The learner should achieve the following objectives:

  • Making the diagnosis of Parkinson's disease early, to be aware of common misdiagnosis and the main tips in differentiating from other diagnosis
  • The common pharmacological managements used including L-Dopa, Dopamine agonists and COMTI alone or in combination
  • Managing non motor complications of Parkinson disease such as dementia
  • Choosing a multidisciplinary approach in the management of Parkinson's disease
  • Ensuring safety by monitoring a patients progress after initiating management
