This training is designed to quickly update a GPs knowledge of STI testing using an STI Testing Tool.

The management of STIs in our practice requires GPs to have an effective but safe approach to achieve the best patient outcome.

STI Program Unit (STIPU) has developed an STI Testing Tool that can augment our management of different patients that we see on a daily basis. How can we manage STIs in the following 7 people?

By completing this learning activity, participants will be able to

• Increase knowledge in current practice of STI management with an aim to increase STI testing in your practice
• Identify which of your patient populations are most at risk of an STI and are a priority for testing. Eg those with recent partner change
• Identify all young adults as needing STI testing as a part of usual and ongoing health care
• Ability to communicate and negotiate STI testing and treatment, safe sex, and condom use in a time efficient approach
• Ensure patient safety by providing accurate and current information to support STI management and making the GP the primary provider of STI advice
