eHealth for practice staff


This education will discuss the role of practice staff in eHealth, including the purpose and function of the personally controlled electronic health record (PCEHR), the Health Identifiers (HI) service, the quality use of data and the utilisation of e-tools to facilitate data cleansing and ensuring the quality of data in general practice.

Change management, using the RACGP Quality Framework, is demonstrated. Safe and efficient delivery of patient care is demonstrated with the use of electronic products and tools.

By completing this learning activity, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the role of practice staff in the emerging e-health environment and link this to daily clinical practice.
  • Discuss the role of practice staff in change management.
  • Describe the value of a structured quality framework.
  • Recall the planning and implementation that is required for successful data management.
  • Ensure patient safety by initially demonstrating their skills by in the utilisation of various ehealth initiatives e.g. PCEHR, health identifiers.
