Dr Sarah McGuinness is an academic infectious diseases physician with a special interest in travel medicine. She leads the Travel Medicine service at The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne and has a research and teaching appointment at Monash University. Sarah is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Travel Medicine and chairs the Digital Communications Committee of the International Society of Travel Medicine. She frequently speaks at national and international conferences and co-facilitates an annual Travel Medicine Masterclass for GPs and other travel health providers. She is also a co-author of the Manual of Travel Medicine, a practical handbook for Australasian clinicians.
Professor Nicholas Zwar is an academic general practitioner with a long term clinical, research, and teaching interest in travel medicine. Nick is a fellow of the Australasian College of Tropical Medicine, chair of the RACGP Travel Medicine Specific Interest Group, Deputy Chair of the Australian Travel Health Advisory Group and a member of the International Society of Travel Medicine Primary Travel Doctor Professional Group. Nick has been involved in research on the risk of hepatitis A and hepatitis B in Australian travellers and on risks and advice to travellers visiting friend and relatives. Nick has written regularly on travel medicine for Australian Doctor magazine for more than 20 years.
